As the Commercial Contracts Director, Haniya supports organisations to undertake FCDO commercial contracts by evaluating existing systems and processes; designing strategic road maps; identifying skills gaps and capacity needs; and supporting pre-positioning strategies on budgeting and positioning within the market. She is also able to be part of the red review team, evaluating the full bid package prior to submission.

She also provides advice and training on bidding for commercial contracts, negotiation, payment by results and value for money, as well as representing and supporting organisations in negotiations with partners and FCDO.

Haniya established and chaired the Commercial Contracts Working Group, which now sits within Bond, in 2012 . Her previous roles include Head of Commercial Contracts at the International Rescue Committee and Acting Country Director for Somalia at Islamic Relief Worldwide.

She has been a speaker at the InterAction Conference in Washington, D.C. and the Bond Annual Conference in London and the Humentum Annual Conference in D.C. She has briefed The Economist for articles on commercial contracting in the development sector.

Haniya currently resides in the United Kingdom. She enjoys fencing and studying French.
